Mother's Day

This was the first Mother's Day without my Grams, so instead of seeing an empty seat at our usual brunch spot, we opted to break tradition and be spontaneous…well we tried to anyway.

What started out as a weekend getaway to Austin for time in the city turned into a stay-cation and last minute reservations.  We booked hotels and brunches in Austin to get a change of scenery and to visit my sister and Nana but along the way everything fell apart.

Due to everyone's busy schedule and some miscommunication on the side, it was decided the day before we were supposed to leave, that we now would be making our own brunch. (It is funny that with all the technology we have, communicating is still so hard.) As annoying as it is to have the plans change so far in, we made the best of our weekend anyway. We spent Saturday lunching at Patina Green (eating the most fresh, organic sandwiches you could ever find) and wandering the streets of downtown McKinney.

At lunch when we realized we had no menu for the following day, it was decided that we would be eating out. As the plan continued to change, I began to panic….where do you find reservations the day before Mother's Day? Well as it turns out, the best authentic Mexican restaurant in our quaint little downtown.

While we made the reservations for Bien Salsa on a whim, I am so glad we did. The food was fresh and delicious; I will definitely be going back for seconds. We had a relaxing brunch (well sort of..we did spill two mimosas) and rushed home for my mom to open her presents before my dad had to jet off for work.

I think the older I get the more I appreciate holidays. I am reminded time and time again how great God is and how thankful I am for everything that The Lord has given me so undeservedly.

Mom- You are simply amazing. I don't know how I could ever get through life without you. I admire you for your strength, compassion, giving heart, and so much more. I am so proud of how much you have grown your relationship with God this past semester, it has been such an amazing process to watch. I can see that He is working in your heart everyday and I can only imagine what is to come for you. Thank you for being my constant supporter, my best friend, and most importantly my mom. I love you with my whole heart.
